4’53 | MP3 | 192kbps const | 44.1kHz | J-stereo | 6.7MB The brief was to author a blockbuster-style film theme that could be remixed into a dance track, hence the over-the-top drum rolls, clichéd crowd noise and angular synth motif. The piece was put together in Cubase SX, with WaveLab helping out on sample trimming and treatment. Native Instruments’ Pro-53 provides the main theme and that Godawful screech at 1’19 is courtesy of some freeware modular soft synth that I’ve forgotten the name of. ‘Vozhd’, by the way, is Russian for ‘leader’ and the voice is of Joseph Stalin’s henchman Beria speaking at Country Joe’s funeral. |
